This paper describes an investigation into the possibility of increasing the stability of an electron transporting /hole blocking layer in an organic lighting emitting device stack by molecular engineering. We succeeded in delivering a highly thermally and electronically stable material which improves the efficiency of typical blue emitting OLED devices by 83% and their life-time by 6 fold compared to the industry standards.
