Theoretical and experimental evaluation of clipping and quantization noise for optical OFDM
International coauthors from Carnegie Mellon University, USA, with world leading expertise in computer science and digital signal processing. A detailed theory of clipping and quantization noise in optical orthogonal frequency division multiplexing was developed and experimentally confirmed for the first time. The results of the work will enable optimisation of future OFDM-based optical transmission system designs, and resulted in the group being invited to participate in the European Piano+ project IMPACT (£172k, PI: Killey). Led to an invited paper by Dr Killey et al at the Asia Communications and Photonics Conference 2012, a premier international conference on optical communications.
