<19> This paper presents a novel digital image watermarking approach based on region adaptivity to improve robustness against copyright breaches. It is based on the hypothesis that the robustness can be improved by using watermarking data with a frequency spectrum similar to that of the associated host data. To achieve this, a combination of different techniques is employed to embed different parts of a watermarking image into selected regions of its host image. The experiment conducted shows that the approach can indeed improve watermarking robustness. The work contributes to the more effective detection and deterrence of copyright breaches.
