Performance Analysis of Hybrid and Full Electrical Vehicles Equipped with Continuously Variable Transmissions
This paper studied successfully the effects of adopting a continuously variable transmission (CVT) that can be adapted for hybrid and electric vehicles. This paper was one among several fruitful outputs investigating the new transmission technology in hybrid and electric vehicles. The results of this work have enabled theory to be built into a demonstration vehicle and verified with actual test data. The results are being used to model and develop a novel ultra high efficient gearbox control system for electric vehicles. The project is currently being further developed by the University of Sunderland and Hyperdrive vehicles at Cramlington. The research will lead to technology which will have a market lead, as it will achieve additional efficiency and range that will not be achieved by competitors. This paper is one among several outputs studied the impacts of the new transmission.
