Additional information

Bradley co-organised the conference at the British School at Rome in 2007 around which the volume was based. Subsequently, acting largely as sole editor (with occasional input from K. Stow), he selected the strongest papers from the conference - CUP does not publish conference proceedings - commissioned one new chapter and offered comprehensive feedback on at least two drafts of each chapter. He also wrote an Introduction, a separate methodology chapter to guide contributors, and contributed his own chapter (c. 15,000 words).
