Additional information

<24> Pioneering research on biologically realistic model of cognitive function. The original attention model comprises two layers of spiking neurons: one layer represents objects and another layer controls attention focus. Object selection is interpreted as regime of partial synchronization between layers. The model reproduces experimental data on attention control and performs well in real visual scenes. The model enables formulation of new hypothesis on the mechanism of attention that will be tested in future experiments. The model has been used by others (e.g. Qu et al., 2013, Neural Computing Applications) and also applied to visual attention in robots.
