A Practical Coordinate Unification Method for Integrated Tactile-Optical Measuring System
This paper presents an efficient method of unifying two coordinate systems to take advantage of the speed of wide-field-of-view optical measurement, corrected for inaccuracy by restricted contact measurements. The method is general, but has been applied to a structured light system in concert with a coordinate measuring machine. This work allows a much broader approach to data fusion, which is being implemented as part of the EPSRC funded project (EP/I033424/1), Centre for Innovative Manufacturing. It is also being exploited as part of the EU-Funded FP7 project EASE-R3 (NMP2-LA-2013-608771) as a solution to increase the overall equipment effectiveness of machine tools.
