Novel bacterial strains for the removal of microcystins from drinking water
This is the publication output linked to an invited conference presentation at 7th Leading-Edge Conference on Water and Wastewater Treatment Technologies, Phoenix, USA 2nd – 4th June 2010 (http://www.iwahq.org/6m/events/iwa-events/event-listing/2010/leading-edge-technologies-conference.html). Previously characterized novel bacteria were shown to degrade chemically diverse microcystins which are commonly found contaminating drinking water. These findings further support development of these organisms for simple drinking water treatment solutions. The work previously received considerable global press interest following conference presentation in the UK in 2009 (http://www.eurekalert.org/pub_releases/2009-09/sfgm-nbs090209.php)
