Additional information

This paper proposed original analytical expressions for rapid estimation of the equivalent surface impedance for a class of Frequency Selective Surfaces. Prior to this work, FSS structures could only be analysed using full-wave electromagnetic modelling techniques. The significance of this work stems from the capability that it offers very rapid deterministic design of FSS geometries to a given performance – this is reflected in the 105 citations that this paper has received to date. This work has also been the basis for a collaborative proposal with Thales Alenia Space (Principal Engineer).
