Additional information

Hooey Higgins and the Shark is a novel for young readers. Its research questions were based on the belief of many eight year old boys that anything is possible and takes it to comic extremes within a fictional English seaside town. It was decided to use the services of an artist and prop maker who has worked extensively on Harry Hill’s TV Burp as it was felt she would use her skill and experience to bring an extra element of visual comedy to the text which would be particularly appealing to newly independent readers The U.S. publishers felt that there was nothing quite like it currently being published in America and, given its uniquely English feel, made the unusual decision not to carry out the usual ‘Americanizations’ of the text, which suggests a certain element of originality.
