This paper is the outcome of collaborative work with the Centre for Offshore Foundation Systems at the University of Western Australia (Prof Mark Cassidy). The results demonstrate the growing capabilities of a novel analytical method (finite element limit analysis with mesh adaptivity) and were presented during an invited workshop on “Offshore Foundations” for approximately 30 engineers at Atkins Ltd in September 2012 (contact details available).
