Additional information

Work developed graphene nanoflake structure that overcomes the problem of low aspect ratio in graphene films by providing high density of edge planes for field emission. The work was one of the initial reports on the field emission properties of pristine and functionalised graphene nanoflakes. The modification of electronic properties and density of states of graphene has important implications for other applications such as electrochemical biosensors and electrochemical energy production and storage devices. Paper was also awarded the best paper published at the Annual Computing and Engineering Research conference (2011), University of Ulster.
