Ghosts of War in Vietnam

Based on long-term fieldwork in central Vietnam, it interacts with scholarship in Vietnam War and Cold War historical studies, issues in classical sociological theories of religion, as well as debates concerning the role of creative war commemoration in the advancement of political democracy, especially those raised by contemporary sociocultural historical World War One scholarship. Awarded the prestigious inaugural George McT Kahin prize, 2009, for advanced scholarship in Southeast Asian Studies from the Association for Asian Studies.
