Additional information

Manuscript details the use of PLD as a technique for depositing n-type semiconducting layers directly onto pi-conjugated light absorbing polymers to demonstrate, for the first time, the formation of a ‘conventional’ architecture hybrid soar cell. Combining microstructural and optical characterisation we confirm that degradation of the soft organic layer does not occur. The work was a key contribution to the collaborative grant award (KAUST £1,300,000) and led to 3 invited conference talks at the RSC-CCS Symposium on Organic and Molecular Materials for Light Harvesting - Sichuan, Tianjin, Beijing and to a contributed presentation at the Fall MRS meeting.
