Environmental legislation means that conventional chrome plate coatings need to be replaced. In this study we contribute fundamental understanding on the behaviour of a possible solution. This involved work on a new low-cost, iron-based alloy from Nanosteel Inc., capable of forming an amorphous coating for protection against wear and corrosion.
