Additional information

The research involved in co-editing and contributing to this book (and those of the two sister volumes in this three-volume series, Performative Inter-actions in African Theatre) was: a co-written 16-page introduction delineating the clear but often blurred distinction between performativity and performance, which sets the research context, frames the contributions, and sets out the book’s consideration of how advances in global citizenship, technology, economics and trans/intercultural transactions have impacted on theatre and performance in Africa; the scholarly engagement required to edit ten contributing chapters; and the contribution of one innovative single-authored chapter, ‘Dreams Deferred: National Theatre and National Development’.
