Significance of output:

This new sound field control technique overcomes limitations of conventional methods such as the ill-conditioning of the plant matrix, thus obtaining superior performance. The theoretical results have been verified by numerical simulations and validated experimentally with a 40-channel 3D spherical loudspeaker array. The proposed technique will have impact on a variety of application areas of relevance to the modern telecommunications industry, such as 3D audio rendering, private sound field generation, and mobile phone audio applications. The work was carried out in collaboration with ETRI, the largest Korean research institute operating in electronics and telecommunication (contact Dr Kyeongok Kang, kokang@etri.re.kr).
