Additional information

Professor McDonough brings together 28 distinguished scholars from a number of countries to examine the origins of the Second World War. It is the largest single edited collection on the subject that utilises exhaustively researched, lucid chapters that build a new and challenging perspective on the origins of the war from a wide variety of new perspectives. It represents a new model for how international history can examine key moments in a new and challenging manner. McDonough acted as the sole editor, produced a detailed list of contributors, wrote the “Introduction” (pp.1-15), an original chapter (pp.185-205) and created the index of persons (pp.525-552).
