Additional information

The study presents a novel multi-scale model of atherosclerotic plaque formation. This paper was selected for the special issue of IEEE Transactions of Biomedical Engineering on Multiscale Modelling that was extremely competitive (225+ papers submitted) and the work was funded by an EC European Reintegration Grant (ERG 224896). This research was followed on by an EC consortium [ALMA, 7 partners] which applied this methodology to predict plaque formation using a multi-scale approach. V. Diaz was invited by the CNRS (France) to present this work (December 2011, contact Dr. R. Thomas).
