Additional information

This manuscript represents the first study of its kind. The paper was followed soon after by similar studies conducted by the Moir group on Bacillus subtilis germinant receptors (J Bacteriol. 2011. 193(9):2261-7) and led also to an invite from Prof. Ernesto Abel-Santos (University of Nevada) to contribute a chapter entitled “Initiation of Germination in Bacillus and Clostridium Spores” to the book “Bacterial Spores: Current Research and Applications”. Caister Academic Press (2012).
