Additional information

This paper focuses on the requirements for multi-scale probabilistic analysis of composite materials, and the need for benchmarking when uncertainty modelling is propagated from micro- to macro-scale. It is the first study that attempts to demonstrate how models can be validated using a combination of physical data and theoretical models and quantifies the confidence that can be placed on reliability estimates. Composite analysts and material engineers can adapt this approach for the application of structural reliability analysis in many different types of structures and load cases.
