Additional information

This paper presents a theoretical model for the oblique impact of elastoplastic spheres, from which complete rebound kinematics can be predicted and in which energy dissipation in both normal and tangential directions is fully considered. The accuracy of the model was demonstrated by comparison with experimental and numerical results reported in the literature. The model can be used to predict accurately energy dissipation during the impact of spheres at any impact angle and the rebound kinematics. This will have wide application in a number of scientific fields including particle technology, granular physics, environment engineering, mechanical engineering, tribology and astrophysics.
