Additional information

Multiscale modelling is becoming a promising modelling paradigm for various domains; however a generic theory is still yet to form. This work made use of the general systems theory and developed the first rigorous conceptual framework using unambiguous mathematical language. The value of this work has been recognised by the positive citations by several groups, e.g. a group of authors from Warwick and Yale expressed that “we would like to single-out the rigorous work on multi-scale models” [Alexei A. Lapkin, Adelina Voutchkova, Paul Anastas, Chemical Engineering and Processing 50 (2011) 1027– 1034.]
