Double-weighted statement

This book deals with how literacy is represented in contemporary society. It addresses topical concerns in education about processes of social ordering, globalisation and the social imaginaries that underpin these. Routledge is a well-respected and widely distributed publisher. The Literacies Series has published many seminal books in this field. I expect this book, which is the culmination of over 10 years research, to become a key reference. The innovative section on number as a semiotic resource has aroused particular interest since it relates to international survey assessments of literacy and the expanding field of the sociology of measurement.
