Results relating to the two key features of the paper - the elucidation of the mechanism of instability of the stainless steel substrate, and the demonstration of untilted textured MgO buffer layers produced via acetate-based MgO spray pyrolysis on Hastalloy substrates - have been used by 3-C’s Ltd (Dr Eamonn Maher, Managing Director) to identify appropriate substrate materials for their superconductor development programme.
