English abstract

This article reviews the history of publication and analysis of the liturgical poems of the Byzantine-period liturgical poet (payyetan) Yannai, with a special stress on work done after the landmark edition of Zulay. It also offers a new edition of one of his compositions, known as a "qedushta," for the triennial Pentateuchal lectionary cycle. The edition is based on newly-identified fragments from the Cairo Genizah.
