Additional information

This paper describes a numerical method to investigate the response of soils during low frequency cyclic loading such as are encountered in wind turbine foundations, and the soil adjacent to integral bridge abutments, etc. This paper provides a novel insight into the micro-mechanics of soil under low frequency cyclic loading, which is extremely difficult to obtain by direct experimental observation. The results can be used by engineers to predict the nature of frequency degradation of wind turbine foundations.
