English abstract

Through the concept of ‘uprooting’, this monograph focuses on the Belgian writer, Philippe Blasband, and his study of the human condition in western contemporary society. Blasband, of Judeo- Iranian, Turkish, Russian, Afghan and Zoroastrian extraction, uses a range of media including the novel, film, and theatre production to bring unlikely characters together and offer a deep reflection on social themes that are often ignored or worse stigmatised in our society.
