This extensive work was co-authored. O’Sullivan’s AHRC recognised research contributed over 60% of the final publication. This was the culmination of over 10 years’ work which synthesises and makes use of a considerable body of original archive materials, films, interviews and related data concerning the film-makers and their working practices, contexts and productions - over 40 films, over thirty years- from the early 1940s to the 1970s.
In these terms it is argued that the scale and the scope of the publication and O’Sullivan’s contribution merit double weighting.
