This book makes use of the wider consciousness of oral history to significantly add to the primary material available to Aalto scholars. It establishes a new historical paradigm for evaluating architectural practice. The book was funded by a grant from the Finnish Cultural Foundation. It led to an invitation to speak at the inaugural Alvar Aalto Research Conference, organized by the Alvar Aalto Foundation. It has been positively reviewed in architectural journals including 'Architectural Record', 'The Architectural Review', 'Architectural Research Quarterly', 'Arkkitehti', and 'Domus'. The research won the RIBA President's Award for Outstanding University-based Research 2012.
