Additional information

Image processing of full-field vibration data is carried out using ‘shape features’. It is demonstrated that frequency response functions can be determined at every point on the structure, whereas they can only be obtained at discrete sensor and exciter locations using conventional test methods. The paper includes the modal analysis of a car bonnet in the shape-feature domain. Siebert (Evidence file: Mottershead4-1) describes the work as being of 'genuine practical value' to Dantec Dynamics GmbH, industrial partners in the EC-funded project.
