Double-weighted statement

The proposal that Shakespeare and the Apocalypse be double-weighted is based on the following: a) The thesis is complex, uniting research on early modern drama, poststructuralist theories of language, contemporary films and novels, and images of extant medieval church iconography depicting the Apocalypse. b) This constitutes a considerable body of research material including the primary source of medieval church iconography critically mined in this work for the first time in literary studies. c) The critical insight of the book thus required extensive research across England, Wales, and Europe, in order to examine, document, and photograph extant or recently discovered iconography.
