Additional information

This paper presents a generalised stability analysis and full numerical simulations of fast two-fluid, miscible channel flows, with applications to foulant removal for fast-moving consumer goods. The costs of cleaning in the UK household care, cosmetics and toiletries, and food and drink industries were estimated to be between £0.7-0.8 billion per annum (DTI, 2006). This paper led to OKM being awarded a £5M EPSRC Programme Grant (EP/K003976/1) to develop the next-generation predictive tools for multiphase flows. Seven articles resulted from this paper between 2009-12, published in journals such as Phys. Fluids, Chem. Eng. Sci., and Int. J. Multiphase Flow.
