Additional information

<22>The mathematical machinery introduced in this paper has been applied by Rudolph et al. in their work on uniform interpolation for the OWL 2 EL profile (ECAI 2012, RR 2012). It has also been applied to ontology modularisation by Glimm et al. (ISWC 2012). The practical feasibility of uniform interpolation in real-life large-scale ontologies demonstrated in this work triggered significant interest in this field, for example by Wang, Pan and Topor.
