Double-weighted statement

One of only two major studies (the other published whilst this one was in production) to examine representations of World War II in French crime fiction, and the only one to deal with such a substantive corpus of primary texts: over 150 works by more than 90 authors, covering a publication range of 1946-2008. The book’s originality and complexity lies in its dual focus on two discourses – those relating to crime fiction and WWII – and its consequent reappraisal of often calcified identity categories; such as the ‘criminal’, ‘investigator’, ‘resistant hero’.
