Additional information

Across its four sections, Cherry led in three and Mellins on one. For the research underpinning the article, Mellins conducted interviews within the steampunk community whilst Cherry surveyed the online culture music scene and developed the theoretical framework. Given the intensive and time-consuming process of face-to-face interviews, we consider this a larger proportion of the overall research (45%) than the surveying (30%) and theoretical framework (25%), giving this a 55: 45 split. In the planning, redrafting and revising stages, co-authors contributed equally. Overall, therefore we determine that the division of contributions to the paper as Cherry (60%) and Mellins (40%).
