Additional information

Electric cars are future of transportation. Paper proposes new distributed drive-train technology and way to improve efficiency through torque distribution. Paper addresses, for first time, efficiency in low-torque region considering New European Driving Cycle, which is more reasonable than conventional design around only rated operating point. High-density machine and converter have been designed and built. Work funded through European project "P-MOB" (No. 260087, €2.8M, 2010-3). New high-power-density motor and distributed drive have been incorporated into Fiat's first electric demonstration car [pictures at tinyurl.com/gen-eng-136].
