Additional information

Detection of the wanted signal/user in multi-antenna Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) systems is important problem in modern wireless communications systems, especially given that detection hardware is constrained by cost of implementation. Paper was first to propose graphical inference techniques for this application with an overall quadratic (i.e. manageable) complexity. Decoder was subsequently developed into world’s first analogue MIMO decoder chip in collaboration between Toshiba Corporation [contact: Deputy Managing Director] and IHP Germany.
