Additional information

Timber-joist limecrete-slab composite floors are a potential form of green construction in buildings. However, efficiency of composite is affected by slab-to-joist connections. Paper uses finite-element analysis and large-scale tests to show that replacing metallic connectors with timber (a green move) and concrete slabs with limecrete (also green) leaves a composite floor of desirable stiffness, vibration, load-capacity and ductility characteristics. Work led to Sebastian's Fellowship (2012-4) to collaborate with globally-renowned timber structures researcher [Prof. Maurizio Piazza, Trento University, Italy].
