Additional information

Automated fibre placement has been selected as process of choice for all major primary aero-structures made from advanced composites. Paper clarifies links between internal structure and surface topology of uncured prepreg with quality of manufacture. Work led to first-author Lukaszewicz’s PhD which won prize for best thesis by European Scientific Association For Material Forming [tinyurl.com/gen-eng-109]. Lukaszewicz also won best student paper award for conference paper on similar work from European chapter of the Society for Advancement of Materials and Process Engineering. Work is currently being advanced in core research programmes at UK National Composites Centre [contact: Technology Director].
