A Different Light: The Photography of Sebastião Salgado analyses the very large corpus of photographic work produced by this Brazilian photodocumentarian over three decades in all five continents. This involved working painstakingly through large collections of photo-essays, as well as spending extended periods of time at his photographic agency and studio in Paris and at his home in Brazil. Given the fact that Salgado's work both draws on many iconic elements of the history of art and on his own background in economics and questions of development, this study of his work brings together many different disciplinary and theoretical perspectives.
