Additional information

<28>A computational procedure is reported for tissue stratification based on gene expression data mining through random forest classification. The analysis has been performed in the context of psoriasis, a complex disease with immunological underpinnngs. Our study highlights the potential biological relevance of using ensemble decision tree predictors to determine molecular disease subtypes, in what may initially appear to be a homogenous clinical group and can be extended to other inflammatory disease. This work is in direct relation to an EU funded project (HEALTH-F2-2011-261366) that Tsoka participates to study psoriasis and atopic dermatitis in a consortium of clinicians, biologists and bioinformaticians.
