<20>This paper contributes to the Interactive Storytelling debate by introducing Live Action Role Play (LARP) for meaningful real-time interactions in Storytelling. This article was the foundation for a discussion paper at the 2009 AAAI (Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence) symposia series - Intelligent Narrative Technologies II (Int2) workshop at Stanford University. The workshop was co-chaired by Louchart (HWU), Mehta and Roberts (Georgia Institute of Technology). The notion of performance arts and entertainment as a basis for Interactive Storytelling formed the core of the RIDERS (Research In Interactive Drama Environments, Role-Play and Story-telling) EPSRC network [EP/I032037/1 - (2011–14)].
