Easy composition of symbolic computation software using SCSCP: A new Lingua Franca for symbolic computation
<08> This is the flagship paper of the EU-level Integrated Infrastructure Initiative SCIEnce (RII3-CT-2005-026133, 6 partners, 4 systems), involving leading academics and companies in computer algebra. The project developed the SCSCP protocol for exchanging symbolic data, which has become an industry-supported standard, and is now part of MATLAB and Maple 16 (MapleSoft, http://www.maplesoft.com/products/maple/new_features/connectivity.aspx). JSC (established 1985) is the top journal in symbolic computation. This is joint, interdisciplinary work with the computational mathematics group (St Andrews University), leading to a joint EPSRC project HPC-GAP (EP/G05553X/1).
