This is a major, paradigm-shifting account of the history of the Czechoslovak state from its inception in 1918 to its demise in 1992. The research involved (across 11 chapters and 400 pages) is roughly equivalent to 10 journal articles. The book has attracted over 100 reviews and substantial press coverage internationally. It is included in the Czech Academy of Sciences 2010 list of the most significant books to have been published in the Humanities since 1990.
