Angular Histograms: Frequency-Based Visualizations for Large, High Dimensional Data
<20>Our biologist collaborators have collected large amounts of animal movement data that uses sensors to track the position and orientation of different animals. This multivariate and temporal data is complex and difficult to understand using traditional visualization techniques. Our novel solutions have been used to discover new behaviours, it has influenced our designs for ocean science visualization (flood mitigation on estuary) of scientists at Bangor, and we are continuing this work. Because this data is similar in style to other datasets (people movement, flights of aircraft etc.), it provides a useful case study that can be generalised to other fields
