Additional information

<20>Most studies of information seeking have taken place under laboratory conditions, with investigator-defined tasks. This work pioneered an approach to studying how information behaviours evolve over time, taking a longitudinal and situated approach whilst still gathering detailed data on interactions for analysis. Over 50% of the 23 students on an information management programme participated over two years. The work highlights unexpected strategies students develop for finding, interpreting and using information resources to address perceived assessment requirements. This line of work has resulted in invitations to write a synthesis lecture (http://www.morganclaypool.com/doi/abs/10.2200/S00227ED1V01Y200911HCI006) and give a keynote talk (EuroHCIR 2011).
