Additional information

This paper greatly expanded both fundamental and practical knowledge surrounding MQL. For the first time it presented evidence that conclusively demonstrated how, in an industrial context, coolant could be successfully and reliably reduced from the level of hundreds of litres per minute in use at the time to the order of 30-100 millilitres per hour. This work created the interest in MQL in both Rolls Royce and the Winbro-Group. This work also laid the foundation for a continuing supportive and collaborative relationship with Rolls-Royce.
