Double-weighted statement

Claiming the Streets presents a critical insight into nineteenth-century processional culture which was dependent upon the completion of data collection over a period of eight years. The book is based on the collection and analysis of a considerable body of material, mainly in the form of extensive newspaper research (29 titles) relating to numerous towns in a region spanning a period of fifty years, and parliamentary papers. The majority of this material could not be accessed digitally and required archival research in London, Aberystwyth, Cardiff, Swansea and Lampeter. Therefore, these primary sources were especially extensive and relatively difficult to access.
