Additional information
Estimation of direction of arrival (DOA) is fundamental in a diversity of applications such as radar, sonar, wireless communications and geophysics. This paper proposed a computationally efficient and robust solution to the DOA estimation problem, without requiring explicit knowledge of the number of signals, and achieves computational savings of more than 50%. This work resulted in an international collaboration with Mats Viberg (Chalmers) and Christoph Mecklenbraeuker (TU Vienna), leading to a follow-on paper (DoI:10.1016/j.sigpro.2009.11.013).
